I was honored to be selected as a resident artist July 2019 at Elsewhere Studios in Paonia, Colorado. My multimedia storytelling project is currently in progress. I'm exploring human connection, values, identity, and history of food in the North Fork Valley. This region on the Western Slope of Colorado has a rich farming and agricultural history. Today it has become a vibrant community passionate for local organic foods, and sustainable methods of production. My project will feature some of the many inspiring individuals and families that are contributing to this movement. In July, I filmed, photographed and interviewed various food producers. Each day culminated in sharing a meal featuring the food of each producer. Now I'm busy editing the content into a podcast, and collection of short videos. I am also making pottery/ceramic gifts for each participant inspired by the food each person produces, or the meal we shared. In late Spring or Summer 2020, I will coordinate a community potluck where I will give the pottery and share the resulting project in it's various forms.
