Volver

Volver is a documentary project including videos, interviews and photographs of a tango community in Rosario, Argentina. I was awarded an El Levante artist residency, to work on this project for two months, engage with other artists and live above a historic tango venue. I was intrigued, but intimidated by Tango and the community. I used my camera as a tool to connect with the dancers, honor them and learn from them. I also was able to practice Spanish while interviewing and editing. The culminating exhibit included a screening of the video and an installation with photographs of the dancers, statements from the interivews and lyrics of popular tango songs sewn together.
